Get Healthy Rotherham Well Being Walks

Gaining weight often happens gradually over time and can be just the odd unhealthy habit mounting up, but extra weight puts pressure on our bodies and reduces our strength to fight off serious diseases, including COVID-19.

The Get Healthy ‘Well-being walks” is a 12 week weight-loss intervention that is designed around the Better Health campaign and will include:

  • Weekly group support

  • Nutritional advice (evidence based) that cover topic like,
    - Energy intake
    - Macro and Micro- nutrients
    - Portion control
    - Goal setting and creating healthy habits
    - Emotional eating 

  • Introduction to exercise which involves a short walk through the community.

  • Access to the NHS weight loss app and tools to encourage lifestyle changes outside the group

Why should people choose to attend these group sessions if they are wanting to lose weight?

Everyone in the group will be in the same position as you. So, you can lean on them for support when you hit a plateau or struggle to stay the course. Meanwhile, you’ll have people on your side who will champion you in your success, too.

So, if you have a bad day — one that might’ve derailed past weight-loss efforts — you can rely on your group to boost you. But they can also give you the positive feedback you need when you accomplish something big. And all of that motivation will only keep you going in your quest to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Those in the same boat as you will have discovered their own tips and tricks for staying the course. At group meetings or even in online weight loss forums, they will share that wisdom with you. Of course, you can return the favour and disclose your hacks to the team. Together, you’ll be even stronger and more able to shed weight and improve your health.
